Was your ELDT provider removed from the registry?
Step 1: check your own record, not the provider
Go to tpr.fmcsa.dot.gov and use the driver lookup with your CDL or permit number, state, and date of birth. What matters is whether YOUR completion is in the registry. If it is there, you are fine no matter what has happened to the provider since. A provider being removed does not erase completions they already filed.
Step 2: check whether the provider is still listed
On the same site, use Find Provider and search by name. If they no longer appear, they cannot file anything for you, and any certificate issued after their removal is not backed by a federal record. Ask them directly, in writing, whether they can currently transmit to the registry. A provider in good standing answers that in one sentence.
Why providers get removed
Common reasons: a failed FMCSA or state audit, an instructor of record who no longer meets the 49 CFR 380.605 qualification, a lapsed annual self-certification, a change of ownership or address that was never updated, or curriculum that did not match the appendix requirements. It is an administrative action, not usually a scandal, but the effect on a student is the same either way.
What you can and cannot recover
Already filed: stays in the registry. Nothing to redo.
Completed but never filed: gone. Another provider cannot submit training it did not deliver, and FMCSA does not accept a certificate PDF as proof. You redo the theory.
Paid but not completed: ask for a refund in writing. If they refuse, a card chargeback for service not rendered usually succeeds, because they cannot produce a registry record.
Behind-the-wheel: a separate record from a separate provider. If your school is the one that was removed, that is the part you redo, not the theory.
How to pick the next one
Search them on tpr.fmcsa.dot.gov before you pay; if they are not listed, walk away. Ask how fast they file, because "within 2 business days" and "the moment you finish" are very different when you have a DMV appointment. Ask who their instructor of record is. And do not overpay for theory: FMCSA sets the same curriculum and the same 80 percent pass mark for every provider, so a $150 course and a $20 course produce the same registry record.
Questions drivers ask
Is ELDT365 currently listed and filing?
Yes. ELDT365 is listed on the FMCSA Training Provider Registry as an online theory provider and transmits every completion electronically the moment a student finishes. You can look us up under Find Provider and verify any record the same day.
Do I have to pay twice?
For the theory, yes, if it was never filed, because the training has to be delivered by a listed provider. Pursue a refund from the old one in parallel; do not wait on it before getting yourself back on track.
Will the DMV accept my old certificate?
No. States check the federal registry, not paperwork from the provider.
How long does it take to redo?
At ELDT365 the theory is about 2 hours for Class A or B and about 45 minutes for an endorsement, and your record is in the registry before you close the laptop.
