Do I need this before my CDL test?
Yes. Since February 2022 the FMCSA requires ELDT theory from a registered provider before you can take the Class A skills test or get your CLP upgraded.
Is behind-the-wheel training included?
No - this is the theory portion. Behind-the-wheel is separate and done with a school or trainer in your area. Most students do theory first.
Does this course give me a CDL?
No. It is the required FMCSA theory step. You still need behind-the-wheel training with a registered school and the state skills test. This course is filed to the registry so the DMV can see it when you test.
Can I do the theory before my permit?
Yes. Many drivers do theory first, then the permit tests, then behind-the-wheel training.
Is a $20 course really the same requirement?
Yes. The FMCSA sets the curriculum and the 80 percent pass mark, not the price. Every registered provider teaches the same units.
Does ELDT expire?
No. Once your completion is on the registry it stays there.
What if I am not satisfied?
Full refund within 7 days if you have completed less than 10% of the course and taken no quizzes. Bought the wrong course? We swap it free. A course already filed with the FMCSA registry cannot be refunded.
